In reference to this post from last month, http://flippinkites.blogspot.com/2009/01/if-sad-wasnt-already-bad-enoughthey-are.html
apparently the New York authorities have found the source of the smell: a New Jersey facility that processes fenugreek seeds for flavoring curry powders and some artificial flavors such as butterscotch and maple syrup. How nefarious!
Case closed...?
Somehow- i missed the first post.
ReplyDeletePotential TMI follows:
Fenugreek tea is recommended to women to enhance milk production when they are breastfeeding.
I don't think it really enhances milk production as much as it makes the milk taste like maple syrup, thus causing the babies to nurse longer & harder (and that stimulates milk production)
When one is drinking fenugreek tea on a regular basis - all of one's bodily fluids smell like maple syrup, sweat, urine, breastmilk.
there are worse things than maple syrup
hmmmmmm....might explain why I love the taste of maple syrup a bit...
